About Donald W Carpenter and Brick Repair and Renovations

Brick Repair and Renovations belongs to Donald W Carpenter, and it is based in Mobile, Alabama. It used to go by Mobile Masonry & Concrete, and it is now Brick Repair and Renovations.

The number on this site, (251) 305-5966, is Donald's. When you send photos of your house, he is the one who looks at them, and he looks at the job himself.

The work is brick and the mortar that holds it together. That means cracked, spalled and loose brick taken out and replaced, worn mortar joints cut out and repointed, brick chimneys with leaks and cracked crowns, and cracks and soft mortar in brick and block foundations.

In Mobile most of that trouble starts with water. The city is one of the rainiest in the country, it stays hot and humid most of the year, and near the bay there is salt in the air. Finding where the water is getting in is the first part of any job.

Send Donald a photo. A wide one of the wall or chimney and a close one of the worst spot is enough to start, along with what part of Mobile you are in. Donald looks at the brick, the mortar and what is letting water in, and tells you what it needs and what it does not. You know what is being done before it starts. Then Donald does it.

Mobile has old soft brick laid in lime mortar downtown and in the historic districts, and brick veneer on slab houses in Spring Hill and West Mobile. They need different things. Old brick needs a mortar softer than the brick. Veneer needs its weep holes kept open. And when an exact match on very old brick is not possible, Donald tells you that up front.
